May 2016 Guild Update

  • Andrea brought the meeting to order at 7:10 on May 11, 2016 at the new space at Interlocken. The space is lovely and seemed to accommodate everyone.
  • 26 guild members signed in.
  • No Account balance this time.
  • Sew day was discussed. Talked about making it a quarterly event and having it last a whole day and to be held at one of two fire halls. Everyone seemed to think longer hours with less frequency was a good idea, as was alternating between Saturday or a Sunday.
  • Andrea asked about board members for next year and if anyone was interested. Please let her know via email.
  • Creative webinar on MQG on English Paper Piecing by Anna Boenish will be on May 19th, 7pm mountain time.
  • Make Modern Magazine will be featuring our guild in their 15th issue out on February 24, 2017.
  • Susan Santisteven spoke about a traveling bee and had a sign up sheet. Thanks for heading this up Susan.
  • Emily Smith spoke about a block bee and had a sign up sheet. Thanks for heading this up Emily.
  • Marsha announced that Jacquie Gehring will be at their guild in June and there may be some openings if anyone is interested!
  • Amy handed out a sheet with the inspiration quilts on it for the RMQM Show. She talked about the inspirations, her idea and what the guild members should expect at the next meeting re: committee heads and what you should bring, even if it is just hand sketched.
  • Heather Jones will be doing a trunk show and lecture at Fancy Tiger Crafts on July 8th, 2016.
  • Lauren introduced Dawn D’Amo as our guest speaker! Dawn is a photographer who has an initiative to put Barn Quilts on Barns in Boulder County. All the info is up on her website at Bocoquiltsbarnquilts.com. Lauren asked members to sign up to make a block for a charity quilt that will be donated the a special riders group. Lauren handed out info on this and you can sign up online. Chelsea had fabrics for sale in the colors that Lauren chose for the project. Blocks should be 12.5” or 12” finished. They are looking for block making volunteers, volunteers to put the blocks together, someone to quilt it, some one to donate batting and so on.
  • The evening was completed with show and share. So many lovely projects happening in our guild.
