We are embarking on a quilting adventure! It’s our 2023 color challenge. This fun challenge will run from April to July 2023. To join, run through steps 1 through 4 below to find your adventure. Before you begin, first decide whether you want to choose your path or destiny to choose for you.
Let’s get started! Grab a six-sided die or a random number generator to begin.
STEP 1: Roll or choose a Hero Color
- 1 or 4 = Kona 2023 Color of the Year Crush
- 2 or 5 = Kona 2022 COTY Cosmos
- 3 or 6 = Kona 2021 COTY Horizon
STEP 2: Roll or choose a Style
- 1 = Modern Traditionalism
- 2 = Improvisational
- 3 = Negative Space
- 4 = Minimalism
- 5 = Applique
- 6 = Freestyle or Mix 2
STEP 3: Roll Twice and Add or Choose a Theme
- 2 = Provenance
- 3 = Blue Sky Design
- 4 = Repeat
- 5 = Off Grid
- 6 = Plants
- 7 = Animals
- 8 = Seasons
- 9 = Daily Routine
- 10 = A Memory
- 11 = Architecture
- 12 = Freestyle
STEP 4: Create!
- Develop a concept by the May meeting
- The challenge finishes at the July meeting
- The quilt can be any size or shape.
- The color picked is the dominant color in the quilt. You can add other colors, prints, or solids.
- The challenge is optional and no formal way to enter.
- Share your progress on social media with #dmmqg
