Introducing DMMQG’s Graphic Design Challenge and Mini Quilt Swap
Members of the DMMQG are invited to participate in a design challenge based on Rebecca Bryan’s webinar hosted by the MQG – A Quilter’s Guide to Graphic Design: Applying Lessons from Graphic Design to Modern Quilt Making.
Rebecca is the author of Modern Triangle Quilts and Modern Rainbow. You can learn more about her at her website Bryan House Quilts
What is the challenge?
Each participant is challenged to create a mini quilt (less than 24’’ square) to swap.
The design should be your own and based on your exploration of the graphic design principles discussed in the webinar: color, texture, framing, figure/ground, symmetry and balance, scale, rhythm, grid and pattern.
Participants are encouraged to play and challenge themselves to create outside of their comfort zone. There are no guidelines except for the size requirement (less than 24’’ square). However, each swap participant can declare the basic color palette they would like to be used for the piece they will receive.
When?
The webinar was viewed at the November business meeting. For those who missed it, you can view the webinar here.
