  • Not mentioned at this meeting, but happenings for the April meeting on the 13th are as follows: The April meeting will be a presentation by Dana E. Jones, who has written a book on the Quiltmakers of Caohagan Island! It is an amazing story of how quiltmaking brought the island out of poverty and includes beautiful photography. She will also have books and quilts from the island for sale-this is something you will not want to miss!
  • Shelby Skumanich spoke about the quilt show at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. On March 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., you are all invited to look at the top 7 quilts chosen. 4 of the 7 will be chosen that day-these will be the inspiration quilts! Please RSVP to the email she sent out.
  • Stephanie Ruyle spoke about the U of C Boulder students having a show on March 17, 2016 in the Makers Space on campus. She hopes all will attend to support the students and also would like to encourage you to submit a quilt or two to hang at the show. These students and Stephanie have put a lot of hard work and time into this, so lets show her and them our support!
  • Stephanie also spoke about our Twisted Sisters Quilt, winning 3rd place in the Group category at Quilt Con. Way to go team!!! She had pins for the 22 people who contributed to the quilt and announced that it has been picked up for the MQG best of show traveling show. It will travel for a whole year. It is also published in the Quilt Con magazine and Simply Moderne (a modern quilt magazine published by Quilt Mania). It truly doesn’t get much more exciting than this. Thank you Stephanie for all your work in making this happen!
  • The program was put on by Margaret, the area Hoffman Fabrics representative. She spoke about the beginnings of Hoffman by brothers Phillip and Walter. Videos were shown about them, their surfing life and how this wonderful family owned company started 92 years ago. Many samples were passed around and we learned about the process of Batik making, using a chop with resist wax. Also, how the brothers care about the environment and their water treatment facility in Bali. Thank you Margaret for your great presentation and wonderful prizes.
  • Many lovely projects shared at our show and share!
